Another famous face that wintered in Fort Myers was auto manufacturer Henry Ford. His three acre estate, known by the name 'Mangoes,' is next door to the Edison estate. Purchased by Ford in 1916, the home was chosen deliberately in order that Ford could be closer to his long-time friend Edison. Today, visitors to their homes can see the 'Friendship Gate' that divides the two properties, reminding the public of the deep friendship that existed between the two families.

I just want to share with everyone what a wonderul experience my family and I had while in Ft Myers, and especially down at Ft Myers beach. The scenery is gorgeous- I cant even hardly describe its beauty in this small amount of space. If you are into the beach scene, its a great place to come, shop in the many different stores along the beach, dine in at one of the cafe's or resteraunts.

Eden Vineyards & Winery

Eden Vineyards & Winery The Kiser family began planting of fine wine grapes in southwest Florida over thirty years ago. Their purpose, to see if they could grow the grapes that produce the fine wines of the world; Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sangiovese and others. They learned that although the grapes would grow, after only a few years they would begin to die. The culprit was Pierces Disease, a little known condition that attacked the vitis vinifera specie. And when it rains...

Fort Myers Sanibel Indoor Here in the Fort Myers & Sanibel area, residents often welcome rainy days because they are so rare. And because they give us an opportunity to take the kids to those indoor museums and attractions they've been asking to visit. These suggestions also work for days when you're ready to get out of the sun, and can be interchanged with days on the Natural Adventures and Just Add Water itineraries.
